Phonics Activity for Short Vowel Sounds

1.

Print out or write on a large pieces of paper the vowels:

a, e, i, o, u

write in lower case.

Scatter the vowels on the floor, but within jumping distance from each other.

The object of this game is to get from one side of the room to the other by jumping on the vowels.

You could pretend your child is a frog that needs to get to the other side to gobble up the flies.

Start the game by calling out a short vowel sound and your child has to jump onto that vowel.

Continue until you have called out all the vowels.

Reward your 'frog' with 'chocolate flies'!!
