Nursery rhyme activities are added on a regular basis!

Rhyming Pictures -  a set of 36 pictures to play rhyming pairs. Delightful graphics help make this is a great first game to encourage rhyming.

Make Rhyming Words - a worksheet type activity that gives practice using two letter phonograms to make words that rhyme

I am in the process of designing some more rhyme activities and games, so in the meantime, take a quick peak at this video of a simple rhyming game you can make & play at home or just print out the rhyming pictures game above.

All you have to do is:

  • cut out (or draw) some pictures of items that rhyme - such as hair/chair, eye/tie, toes/nose, dog/log, rat/cat etc
  • stick these on card for durability - you may want to laminate them
  • play a memory type game, by turning over the cards and try to find the matching rhyming pair

watch how Caleb played the rhyming pairs game here: It is interesting to note, that the day before, he did not have any idea how to rhyme
